NPC Profiles & Appointments
Additional Lore: (Findable outside of events, like libraries and asking around town, etc. This section is a little sparse, but we'll gather more links soon-- this is mostly just specific info people are asking for on the FAQ, events, TDMs, etc. that pertain to world info that's worldbuilding/extra.):
Game Progression: Unless otherwise stated, all information can be asked about around town and is not being kept secret.
- Otherworlders arrive in Avalon for the first time and are welcomed with a banquet. (TDM-1)
- The AOL network is updated with the MagiCast system. Otherworlders are asked to help recover items from the lake and arrival methods are updated to help with possession recovery going forward. The Elphame Traders begin sending monthly representatives to Camelot to investigate otherworlders for the fairies of Elphame and sell their wares. (EVENT-1)
- The citizens of Camelot begin work to help train, test, and get otherworlders to use their magic in order to maintain the magic that's keeping Avalon going while the rest of the universe is frozen. (Various, ongoing) Winter Solstice preparation begins and Morganna makes her first appearance to offer a quest to undo an additional ritual that otherworlders were tricked into performing. Otherworlders help her obtain the Black Knight's sword. (TDM-2 and EVENT-2)
- In preparation for a tournament, otherworlders are asked to retrieve specific crystals only obtainable by the brave and pure of heart to restore a communications mirror in the city of Celliwig. Though the mirror was restored, Celliwig was not impressed with the balance of pure and impure hearts among the otherworlders. (TDM-3) - Locations Opened: Pure of Heart Bridge, Brave of Soul Cave

- Morganna teaches otherworlders how to do Synchronic Magic, magic that allows two or more people to synchronize and use their magics together to perform more powerful magics. Characters made wishes at a bonfire afterward, which turned to reality and caused Arthur to lead a party through the Silent Shore to the Archivist's at the Forest of the Fisher King. (TDM-4 and EVENT-4) - Locations opened: Silent Shore, The Archivist's Home
- Preparations for the Spring Equinox begin and after a masquerade and a ritual, otherworlders gained access to secondary magic abilities. (TDM-5 and EVENT-5)
- Things seem to calm down for a bit, the world engaging in a gaming convention and dealing with rains until an unexpected outbreak of a doppelganger-creating flower that threatens Camelot and to absorb the abilities of the otherworlders. Our heroes have to head to the Forest of the Fisher King to find venom capable of killing the source of the infection to save Camelot. (TDM-6 and EVENT-6) - Locations opened: Forest of the Fisher King
- The people voted about how to proceed with Celliwig, choosing to accept trials to prove that otherworlders weren't unwanted enforcers of only human righteousness that would force themselves upon fairy kind. Though it was only barely, Camelot passed and was invited to participate in Celliwig's celebration of the summer solstice-- a ritual to renew a magical sun/moon cycle for the following year in Avalon, which exists outside of normal time and space. (TDM-7, EVENT-7, EVENT-8) Locations opened: Celliwig
- Merlin and the Elphame traders also start working on obtaining an alternate route to Elphame via water for large-scale travel in case the trials and Celliwig fall through. (TDM-8, TMD-9, TDM-10)
- In celebration of their renewed union, Camelot's people were invited to participate in a tournament in Celliwig. The following otherworlders will go down in history for their accomplishments (EVENT-9):
- Cutthroat Cooking and Melee Mania Champion: Gareth
- Vicious Vocals: Weiss Schnee
- Speed Sculpting: Yuki Rurikawa
- Familiar Feud: Azrael (Rose's familiar)
- Mario Party: Itaru Chigasaki
- Silent Assassin: Makoto Tachibana
- Spirits locked in the Forest of the Felled had not forgiven Camelot and its residents so easily for trapping them there and began attacking them around and in Celliwig. This marks the appearance of Gwion, the world's first seer. Because enough people trusted her warnings, they were able to save Merlin and Arthur from the spirits and prevent a grave disaster, though King Arthur was severely injured during the rescue. (EVENT-9) The following Death mages were awarded for their work helping to exorcise the city of the spirits: Thanatos, Naomi Kimishima, Toshiro Hijikata, Finndarimus Onaru, Zelgadis, Yuber, Emet-Selch, Baiken, Bailey Morello, Walter C. Dornez, Takuto Maruki, Kotone Shiomi
- Though Celliwig itself was cleared out, the Forest of the Felled is still filled with angry, trapped spectres. Celliwig calls for volunteers to travel to Lestari in the Ash Mountains and awaken a master necromancer named Kymbyr, who will be able to help them use the power of the fall equinox to free the Forest of the Felled. (EVENT-10) Locations opened: The Lands of Rot, the first Ash Mountain, Lestari, the lake waters outside of the Western peninsula
- Preparations for the fall equinox are made, but the ceremony is interrupted by the awakening of a stone giant hidden within the southernmost Ash Mountain, bringing the mountain and the city of Lestari violently down. The mountain's largest dragon attacks Celliwig, blaming them for awakening Kymbyr, the necromancer who awoke the giant and destroyed their home. The stone giant devoured the souls of the dead passing through Avalon and consumed those trapped in the Forest of the Felled. Camelot's forces overwhelmingly assisted with helping the people of Lestari, but were unable to help the people of Celliwig save their city or stop the Stone Giant. The giant goes dormant again within the Forest of the Felled, which is now free of angry spectres. (TDM-11 and EVENT-11) Locations opened: The Ruins of Celliwig, The Ruins of Lestari and the South Mountain, the Forest of the Felled. Locations closed: Celliwig, the first Ash Mountain, Lestari.
- With the sudden loss of Celliwig and the barriers being taken down that were shielding the river from crossing specters, the Forest of the Felled needs to be cleaned up. Along with wards and ties once used to seal the forest now needing to be removed, an unseelie fae known as a fachan - a creature which had been feasting on the trapped souls in the forest - also needs to be dealt with, though doing so gets in the way of fulfilling the original purpose of the expedition. (TDM-12) Meanwhile there are significant contributions made to assist the displaced residents of Lestari and Celliwig, which are responded to with gratitude as the refugees from the destroyed towns look to see what they can do to give support to those who have helped them (as well as their own people). (EVENT-12)
A second expedition into the Forest of the Felled is mounted, this time obstructed by irritated Naiads summoning a basilisk. The intrepid individuals who take part in this second attempt at clearing the forest eventually manage to pass this obstacle and the Forest of the Felled is successfully cleared of most remaining traps and wards which used to keep the spirits haunting it held there. (TDM-13)
- During rituals being held to alter the weather in order to produce more crops to deal with the food rationing which has been ongoing since the combined Lestari/Celliwig disaster, somebody attended while suffering from a magical flu and destabilised the ritual. The result is a massive snowstorm that blankets Camelot and the surrounding areas in six feet of snow, knocking the power out across the town in the later part of the first day. Thankfully the people of Lestari are able to help, providing a useful magical spell and tunnels through the snow. Meanwhile, the Elphame traders arrive early to bring an interesting message, giving everyone a special totem which - at the right time - will transport them to the Land of Maidens. (EVENT-13).
- For the first time, new arrivals to Avalon appear in the Land of Maidens rather than the bay. The nine sorceresses who inhabit this island give tasks to the newcomers and also to those who arrived via the totems given to them by the Elphame traders, with the way off the island and to the capital city of the Fae Lands, Nicnevin, granted once enough people have completed said tasks. (TDM-14) With the path opened anyone is free to make their way to Nicnevin to explore. Encounters with a fae creature known as the Mari Lwyd grant those who speak to it blessings which can boost their primary magic type. (EVENT-14) Locations opened: Land of Maidens, Nicnevin.
- Not long after the otherworlders and other guests of Nicnevin head home, the fairy queen herself sends out a message to all communication devices in Avalon. The message is both invitation and warning, though so cryptic in its delivery that the meaning of it is missed by many. Whether or not characters understood what was actually said or their brain shut down in the middle of the barely benign instructions, fairy circles made of tiny mushrooms start to crop up all across Avalon. Dancing in these fairy rings transports the dancer to a costume party within the ballroom of the fairy queen in Nicnevin, and refusal to attend (or leaving early) subjects characters to the effects of the Wolf’s Moon. The Wolf’s Moon transforms unprotected otherworlders into cynanthropes - werewolves and other types of weredogs - and places a particularly strong curse on them which requires at least two siphoners to break, or a deal with a powerful fae. (EVENT-15)
- Another riddle from the fairy queen, this time delivered straight into the minds of otherworlders while they are sleeping, turns attention back towards the lands outside of Camelot. The riddle itself could have multiple meanings and it is up to the intrepid explorers who venture out to decide just what the fairy queen actually means for them to do. The first solution is the retrieval of a sword long lost in the Land of Rot, identified by the name ‘Clarent’. The second potential answer to the riddle involves locating and robbing the grave of the Fisher King in the Forest of the Fisher King. Either way, it seems that the fairy queen wants whatever she is looking for to be returned to her and she is counting on the obedience of the otherworlders to get the job done. Unknown to most however, one of the otherworlders - Ardyn Izunia - takes the Fisher King’s body and performs a ritual to bring him back from the dead. (TDM-16).
- As a direct consequence of the revival of the Fisher King, a ritual which tore open the void between worlds in order to pull him from the afterlife his soul had been tethered to and back into his body, Avalon attracts the attention of a hoard of shades known collectively as the Wild Hunt. The Wild Hunt lays siege to Camelot for two days before Morganna steps in to perform a ritual to send them back to where they came from. This ritual briefly releases the time freeze that Avalon is under and allows the encroaching Calamity to advance by two seconds. No one needs to travel to the end of the world to be able to see it, now, as it is visible in the sky at all times of the day. (EVENT-16)
- Vernal Soul Pools, a seasonal event which overtakes Camelot once a year in the late spring, are unexpectedly affected by the majority of available magic being funneled into the time freeze spell and the equinox ritual, which uses Queen Mab as a vessel through which the vernal soul pools channel everyone's magic, is thrown out of balance. The dream world and reality blend together in sudden ways, drawing otherworlders into dream states in large numbers and destabilising both the native magic and the otherworlders own natural powers. Though normally off-limits, due to the severity of the situation otherworlders are invited to enter Queen Mab’s cavern to absorb some of her energy in order to set things on the right path again.
After enough people have taken a little of Queen Mab’s power, the fairy queen herself enters the cavern to pierce Mab’s heart with an enchanted dagger, releasing the power flowing through her and stabilising magic for everyone. (EVENT-17)
- The effects of the Fisher King’s apparent disappearance begin to show, and the Land of Rot ceases to rot. Without the Fisher King’s curse keeping the land dead and putrid it begins to grow anew with the spring rains and the undead creatures from within it disperse into the surrounding areas. The Forest of the Fisher King falls into chaos as an influx of creatures begin to battle the native fauna for new territory, and the Archivist has to shut up shop. The Unnamed Marshes, conversely, begin to struggle under the weight of a new malaise that settles over the entire region, causing wisps there to begin behaving very strangely. (TDM-18)
The wisps’ behaviour eventually leads people to Malous, a village deep in the Unnamed Marshes inhabited by mushroom fae. The mages there advise that a newcomer, the Fisher King, passed through some time ago but has since vanished, however they believe that the difficulties the region faces are down to him. Investigation around Malous reveals the Fisher King’s current location - Bermuda Station. (EVENT-18) Locations opened: Unnamed Marshes, Village of Malous.
- An expedition is mounted to head to Bermuda Station, an underground train station that can be used to travel between worlds without disrupting those worlds, though it is currently defunct due to the time freeze over Avalon. The Fisher King is found hiding in a bubble of frozen time within the station and with a majority vote, it is agreed by those in attendance that they will talk to him rather than kill him right on the spot. The Fisher King agrees to be delivered to Queen Elphame. (EVENT-19)
A tournament is held and the five winners, along with Queen Elphame, cast a spell to launch the Fisher King and his curse into the centre of the Calamity. (Tournament winners; Mamori Minamoto; Xue Yang; Rei Amayado; Zidane Tribal; Caster) (TDM-20) With the aid of a group of death mages the Fisher King’s soul is removed before this happens to spare him any suffering. With the curse centred in the Calamity, the effects of it begin to slowly chip away at Excalibur’s spirit and will (supposedly) eventually allow everyone to send a party to retrieve the weakened sword and depower the Calamity.
Because resources are being diverted away from performing the summer solstice, the sun and moon are thrown out of cycle, plunging Avalon into a temporary eternal night. (EVENT-20)
- A ritual is undertaken in the centre of Camelot to bring back the sun. After a brief total blackout following the climax of the spell, the sun finally rises again.
Following this, with Elphame and Camelot in better relations than ever thanks to the efforts of Otherworlders, Queen Elphame and King Arthur work closely together to accomplish the next step of her plan despite some tension about her not sharing what she intended to do with the Fisher King from the get-go. But they're talking now, and the place that everyone needs to go next is a place only familiars can reach. To that end, otherworlders are granted knowledge of how to switch bodies with their familiars. (TDM-21)
With this ability under their belts, otherworlders are invited to venture into the Dusklight Forest at twilight in order to enter the Camelot mirror realm of Lightdusk. This is the location of the first of three legendary items - the Serpent’s Egg - guarded by a creature known as the ouroboros. In the shape of their familiars the otherworlders retrieve a number of ouroboros eggs and return them to Merlin.
